Every DIP 01 starts out like this: bisque-white knit, a ridged sole, nothing shiny. Move your cursor across the shoeDrag a finger across the shoe to dip it in Celadon.
Inside the shoe
A soft, undyed knit upper; a flexible glossy glaze coat over the toe and heel; a light foam midsole with ridges like a thrown pot; and a natural gum rubber sole. Keep scrolling and the shoe turns so you can see each part.

Toe + heel cup · ~1.2 mm coatEverything between the dips is a soft, chunky knit in undyed off-white. It stretches where your foot bends and lets air through on warm days.
Recycled poly-cotton knitThe ridges on the side are the same rings a potter's fingers leave on a pot. Underneath them is a light foam that's soft for a full day on your feet.
28 mm heel · 22 mm forefootHoney-coloured gum rubber with a fine tread. It grips wet pavement and tiled floors and wears in slowly, the way a gum sole should.

Made by hand
Each shoe is knit, built on its sole, then held by the laces and dipped toe-first and heel-first into a bath of glaze. It hangs heel-up for half a day while the coat sets, and the drips land wherever gravity takes them.
1piece
The upper is knit in one piece, undyed, then pulled over the last with the midsole and gum sole attached.
40seconds
Someone holds each shoe by its laces and dips the toe, then the heel, into the glaze bath. That's when the drips form.
12hours
The pairs hang heel-up on racks while the coat sets. Whatever the drips did in that time is what you get.

Most everyday sneakers last 300 to 500 miles of walking, or about a year of daily wear. DIP 01 sits at the long end because the glaze coat protects the toe and heel, the two places that wear out first. The gum sole is what you'll see age, and it wears slowly and evenly.
You want about a thumb's width between your longest toe and the front of the shoe, a heel that doesn't slip when you walk, and no pinching across the widest part of your foot. DIP 01 runs true to size. If your feet are wide, go half a size up or pick the Wide option.
No. It looks like ceramic but it's a flexible coating, so it bends with the toe like a rubber toe cap does. You'll see fine creases at the flex point after a few weeks, the same way leather creases. It won't chip off in pieces.
Yes, if the sole underneath is good. A knit upper is light and breathes, so your feet stay cooler. The weak spot of most knit sneakers is the toe, which scuffs through. On DIP 01 the toe is the glazed part, so that's covered.
Yes. The drips form while the coat is wet and hanging, so their length and spacing change from pair to pair. The two shoes in a pair are dipped one after the other and will look close, but not identical. That's on purpose.
Wipe the glaze with a damp cloth. For the knit, use cold water, a little mild soap and a soft brush, then let them air dry away from a radiator. Don't put them in the washing machine or the dryer: heat is the one thing the glaze coat doesn't like.
